Overview
Honeybee Robotics’ 3D Miniature LIDAR (3DML) is a groundbreaking sensor system that provides real-time 3D “pictures” for robotic applications such as navigation, short-range mapping, and situational awareness. Using a lens-based scanning mechanism, 3DML gets the best of two worlds, achieving the small form factor and real-time frame rates associated with solid-state “flash” LIDAR, while maintaining the high resolution and wide field-of-view of a scanning system. Its scanning mechanism, 3DML attains a 90° horizontal x 60° vertical field-of-view (FOV) while maintaining a large aperture and small package size. This is useful in robotic navigation applications, where a wide FOV is needed to obtain adequate near-field vision.
